Seven sectors. One training partner.

UTraining covers the seven sectors that matter most to the North East economy — from manufacturing and construction to green skills and leadership. Find the one that fits your business.

why sectors

Why Sector-Specific Training?

Generic employability training has its place. But when you're trying to solve a real problem — quality defects on a production line, retention gaps in a skilled team, sustainability targets you can't quite hit — a one-size-fits-all course rarely gets you there.

Each sector has different challenges, different skills gaps and different employer expectations. A manufacturing supervisor needs something very different from a construction site lead or a warehouse team manager

So we design our training around the sector's actual realities — the processes, the pressures, the language and the outcomes that matter to the people doing the job.

It's not a coincidence that 80% of our learners are in manufacturing and processing. That's where the need is greatest in the North East, and it's where we've built the deepest expertise. But the same principles — practical, face-to-face, workplace-relevant training that produces measurable impact — apply across every sector we cover.

Sectors Hero Banner.png

Sector-relevant content, not generic modules

We map every programme to the realities of the sector  real processes, real job roles, real pressures. Learners see themselves in the training from day one.

Tutors who understand the sector

Our tutors bring sector knowledge and experience, not just teaching qualifications. They've worked in or alongside the industries they train — so the conversations are credible and the examples are real.

Outcomes that matter to the sector

A manufacturing employer cares about defect rates and process flow. A construction employer cares about safety compliance and site readiness. A warehouse manager cares about pick accuracy and throughput. We agree what success looks like for your sector and measure against it.

Built around employer need, not training categories

Many employers work across more than one sector. A manufacturer might need Lean & CI for the production team and Leadership & Management for supervisors. We don't silo training by sector — we join it up by what you actually need.

Cross-Sector Training

Training that crosses sectors because your business does too

Most employers don't operate in a single sector. A manufacturing business might need Lean & Continuous Improvement for the production team and Leadership & Management for supervisors. A construction firm might need Pre-Employment for new hires and Health & Safety for site compliance. A warehouse operation might need Process Improvement for the floor and Administration & Customer Service training for the front office.

We don't silo our training by sector. We join it up by employer need. One conversation, one training partner, one programme that covers everything your team requires — delivered in a way that feels coherent and connected, not bolted together.

Job Board Training Cross-Reference.png

Example combinations

Manufacturing employer — full programme:

Lean & Continuous Improvement (production team) + Leadership & Team Management (supervisors) + Green & Sustainability (embedded by default across all provision).

Construction employer — entry to site:

Construction & Groundworks (pre-employment, CSCS prep for new hires) + Warehouse & Logistics (materials handling) + Health & Safety (site compliance).

Distributor — end to end:

Warehouse & Logistics (pick accuracy, process flow) + Administration & Customer Service (order processing, service workflows) + Lean & Continuous Improvement (waste reduction across the operation).

Delivery Models

Delivery models that work across all 7 sectors

Whatever sector you're in, the training has to fit around your operation — not the other way round. We offer seven delivery models, and every one of them applies across all sectors:

Block Delivery (Full-Day)

intensive full-day sessions, ideal when you want learners off the floor for a focused period

Modular/Split Delivery (Half-Day)

shorter sessions that keep learners connected to their role between training

Cohort-Based Delivery

train a team together so they learn from each other and apply improvements as a group

Individual Learner Delivery

one-to-one support for learners who need a tailored pace or specific focus

Online Delivery (emerging)

a complement to face-to-face, not a replacement. Being developed for elements of provision that work well digitally

On-Site Delivery

we come to you. Training in your workplace, mapped to your real processes

Venue-Based Delivery

we arrange a venue if you can't host on-site

LET'S TALK

Not sure which sector fits?

You don't need to pick a sector before you contact us. If you've got a workforce challenge — quality issues, skills gaps, retention, compliance, sustainability — tell us about it and we'll help you work out which sector (or combination) is the right fit.

We'll have a no-obligation conversation about your team, your operation and what you want to achieve. If we're the right partner, we'll say so. If we're not, we'll say that too.
